In this work, an integer order SEIR epidemic model was formulated to quantify and give an insight into the spread of rabies within the dog population. The integer order model was studied qualitatively and its results were obtained theoretically before it was modiﬁed into the non-integer order counterpart to cater for the data agreement deﬁciency associated with the integer order epidemic models. The family of methods<br />was constructed by using weight function technique. One iteration<br />cycle of any concrete member of the family of methods requires the<br />evaluation of three functions. Consequently, the efficiency index of any<br />concrete member of the family is 1.5873. The virus is characterized by acute and chronic recurring<br />clinical signs including fever, anemia, edema and cachexia in some animals. The virus is in the<br />same lentivirus subgroup that includes human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The similarities<br />between these two viruses make the study of the immune response to EIAV make it relevant to<br />the research on HIV. In this paper, a modification of the homotopy perturbation method is<br />applied to solve a mathematical model of within-host EIAV infection dynamics which contain<br />both humoral and cell-mediated immune. This model is a nonlinear ordinary differential<br />equations. Example is provided to show the ability and reliability of the method.
