Abstract
An extraordinary change is happening in
AI-based sustainable farming due to the
introduction of complex technologies,
including GPS, soil scanners, Internet of
Things, blockchain, and machine learning.
Not only are these innovations
transforming the agricultural practices to
enhance the quality and quantity of crop
yields, they are also tackling the major
issues in the world today like population
explosion, climate changes, and lack of
agricultural workers. The IoT-based
sensors constantly monitor the situation
with soil moisture, temperature, humidity,
and light intensity and subsequently
facilitate the process of automation in
irrigation and fertilization, with little
environmental impact. Machine learning
algorithms are used to process these big
data to produce predictive information that
helps farmers to be more precise and
efficient in their treatment of water,
fertilizers and energy. Meanwhile,
blockchain enhances this ecosystem by
offering non-alterable records of all the
farming and supply chains phases, which
guarantees transparency, reliability, and
security of production to distribution.
These technologies, combined, will turn
traditional farming into a data-centric,
intelligent, and responsible system that can
promote, as well as sustain environmental
sustainability and productivity.
